The Journey of Building Boujee Sweets: A Gourmet Cookie Company



Starting a business is often a journey filled with passion, discovery, and a sprinkle of determination. My journey with Boujee Sweets, A Gourmet Cookie Company, is no exception. It all began with a simple love for baking cakes and cookies, but soon blossomed into a full-fledge dream of creating something unique and delightful for cookie lovers.


My passion for baking started with cakes, but it was the allure of cookies that truly captured my imagination. I found myself dreaming about cookies, constantly thinking of new and exciting creations. So much so that I slept with a notebook under my pillow! The turning point came when I discovered a bakery in London making New York Style Cookies. The concept fascinated me - how could they replicate such iconic cookies when they are not in New York?


The curiosity led me to dive deep into the world of New York Style Cookies. I researched famous bakeries like Levain and others known for their legendary cookies. I was determined to create cookies that were just as big, tall, and delectable. However, my initial attempts were far from perfect. The cookies never turned out as I hoped, but I didn't let discourage me.


Instead, I immersed myself in the science of baking. Through countless trials and errors, I learned about the ingredients, techniques, and nuances that make a cookie extraordinary. It was a challenging yet rewarding process, and eventually, I succeeded. This is how Boujee Sweets: A Gourmet Cookie Company was born.


One of the things I love most about cookies is their versatility. You can experiment with a variety of flavors and ingredients to create something truly special. My inspirations come from everywhere: cakes, cheesecakes, ice cream flavors, candies, and more. Each cookie is a canvas for creativity, and I enjoy pushing the boundaries to craft cookies that are not only delicious but also unique.


As I continue to build my brand, my ultimate goal is to open my own brick-and-mortar bakery. Currently, I operate under Michigan's Cottage Foods law, which allow me to sell my cookies in the Grand Rapids are and its surroundings. While I take business training classes and work towards obtaining my official license, I am laying the groundwork for exciting developments to come.


Building Boujee Sweets has been an incredible journey, filled with learning and growth. I am grateful for the support from my local community and look forward to expanding my reach. Stay tuned for more delectable creations and updates as Boujee Sweets continue to grow and flourish.
